iPhone SE (2nd and 3rd generation), iPhone 8, 7 and 6s
Press the side button and the Home button at the same time, then let go.
iPhone with Touch ID and a top button
iPhone SE (1st generation), iPhone 5s and earlier
Press the top button and the Home button at the same time, then let go.

Press the buttons
Face ID iPhones: side button + volume up. iPhones with a Home button: side (or top) button + Home.

Tap the preview
A thumbnail appears in the bottom-left corner. Tap it to crop, draw or add text, or swipe it away to save as is.

Find it in Photos
Open Photos › Albums › Screenshots. Every screenshot is saved there automatically.

Back Tap
Settings › Accessibility › Touch › Back Tap › Double Tap › Screenshot. Then double-tap the back of your iPhone. Works on iPhone 8 and later.
AssistiveTouch
Settings › Accessibility › Touch › AssistiveTouch. Set Single-Tap or Long Press to Screenshot, or open the menu and choose Device › More › Screenshot.
Siri
Say “Hey Siri, take a screenshot” (or “Siri, take a screenshot”).
More than one screen
One screen not enough? Make it long.

How do I take a screenshot on an iPhone?
On an iPhone with Face ID (iPhone X and later, including iPhone 11 to 17), press the side button and volume up together. On an iPhone with a Home button, press the side (or top) button and Home together. The screenshot is saved to Photos.
How do I take a screenshot without the buttons?
Use Back Tap: Settings › Accessibility › Touch › Back Tap › Double Tap › Screenshot, then double-tap the back of the iPhone. Or turn on AssistiveTouch (Settings › Accessibility › Touch › AssistiveTouch) and set one of its actions to Screenshot. You can also ask Siri to “take a screenshot”.
Where are screenshots saved on iPhone?
In the Photos app, under Albums › Screenshots, and in your library with your other photos. Full Page screenshots from Safari are the exception: they are saved as PDFs to the Files app.
How do I take a long or scrolling screenshot on iPhone?
A normal screenshot only captures one screen. For a web page, use Safari’s Full Page screenshot. For anything else — chats, feeds, settings — record the scroll with Screen Recording and turn it into one tall image with the long screenshot tool.
Why is my iPhone screenshot not working?
Press both buttons at exactly the same time and release quickly; holding them opens the power-off or SOS screen. Some apps block screenshots of protected content (for example streaming video), which comes out black. If a button is broken, use Back Tap or AssistiveTouch instead.
Can I take a screenshot of a video on iPhone?
Yes, but it includes the player controls and is limited to the screen’s resolution. To save a clean frame at the video’s own resolution, use video to screenshots.
